Healthy Skin

July 27, 2007

Remember the middle school days when every time you looked in a mirror, a new pimple was there. Those were terrifying and embarrassing days. I remember very vividly when my mom finally allowed me to use makeup to cover up some of those blemishes. Now, it seems, the pimples don’t come as frequently, but it’s still nice to be able to cover them up. Over the years, I’ve learned how to treat my skin better. I’ve learned what to eat and what not to eat. See this article. I’ve also tried out multiple products. What I use now, and I really like it, is a Alexandra de Markoff. I but it online, which is very convenient. This site also has a great shade chart to help you know what to use. I’ve come to like other products on the site, such as this.Beyond makeup, I’ve found that drinking lots of water, working out (so as to get a good sweat), and washing my face regularly has helped my skin. And of course, a good lotion. I love to have smooth, soft, shiny skin. It makes me feel good about myself. After a shower and shave, I’ll cuddle up on my couch with a good book and a hot cup of japanese green tea. For me, it’s a great way to spend the night. Plus, if I ever do get another pimple – I can hide in my living room.

Hectic Schedule

July 18, 2007

Summer is crazy for schedule.  When you have kids running around to a hundred different things; sports, parties, sleepovers.  Then, you add that in with our annual summer vacation to Destin, it just gets to be a bit much.  Over the years, I’ve learned to juggle a bit better, but it’s still crazy.  This week, my son is going to a friend’s party, and I had to help find Transformers birthday party supplies.  Thank goodness for this website.  A few weeks ago, we were at a different themed party, a pirate birthday party, and I had to work on supplies like these.  Oh, the things we do for our kids.  It never seems to end.

My husband wants to have a serious talk about where all our money is going, but I could tell him – our kids!  It makes it very difficult to save for college, or any kind of a retirement when your kids have school fees, sports fees, lessons, one right after the other.  Well, we do need to focus on it though.  I’m looking forward to fall and a more mild schedule.

Marathon

July 11, 2007

I have a good friend who has run two marathons. I don’t know how. I don’t think I could ever do it. Well, he told me a lot about the training. How you have to build up over time in preparation for the race. He said one of the worst things about the race itself was the chafing he experienced. He also said that in his training, it’s really important to have the right shoes otherwise you could experience heel pain. He learned this the hard way and then had to look for ways to fix it. Most of it was just getting in habit. He said he ate well every day and drank sencha tea. It’s awesome that he accomplished it, but I am just not a runner. I like to workout, but I also like to veg and watch a show.

Palm Organization

July 10, 2007

I love the organization that my palm and laptop give me in my life.  In the past, I have been very scatterbrained and not able to get things done quickly and efficiently.  Lately, I’ve been utilizing the tool much more effectively.  For instance, I used to not put in tasks when they pop up, but now I do it all the time.  Something that has helped me has been tips from this article.

For example, the other day, I had a flurry of things to do before I headed out of town.  I had to shop for different aquarium products and these, landscape, take out the garbage, dust and vacuum, shop for alexandra de markoff for my wife,  clean the bathroom, and workout.  Being able to have all of these tasks on my palm and have them ranked allowed me to bust through them without much wasting of time.  It was a great day.  I love an organized life because I see that in God’s creation.

Finding data on Ecommerce

July 9, 2007

Recently, I’ve been looking seriously at getting into some kind of ecommerce.  I know some different people who have ventured into opening ecommerce stores,  and the freedom and financial opportunity are so appealing to me.  The hard thing it seems is finding relevant information on the internet.  There are so many different opinions and so much information out there that I have a hard time sifting through it to find what I need.  For instance, here’s a decent article, but is it something you should pursue?

It seems to me that if you are going to open a store, you need some kind of strategy or help from someone with experience.  After a little more searching, I found this site that has what appears to be an ecommerce guide, but can I trust it?  I guess sooner or later, to be an entrepreneur, you have to take risks.  I’ve had friend begin by selling things on ebay and it just took off from there.  I guess if I ever want to sell something like pirate swords or this, I need to just go after it.

Infomercials

July 4, 2007

So, I was sitting around the other night, just flipping through the channels, and that’s when you get the best infomercials. I tend to get stuck on them and the home shopping channel, but I’m a sucker at buying products I never use. However, I did find something that I think will be useful. The channel had a specialist on talking about organic cosmetics and how beneficial they are to you. I got interested enough in them, that I went online to shop and found a good site. Then, I went back to watching the TV and saw a bunch of other cool stuff: a Flobee, a glow in the dark frisbee, He-Man figurines, old Baseball card collections, kids bedding, and tons of exercise equipment that no one uses. Ahh..the fourth of July, freedom, justice and infomercials!
