Gift for Grandpa

June 27, 2007

I’m leaving to Michigan this weekend to see my grandparents, and I’m really excited because I haven’t been up there in a few years.  I want to get my grandpa a gift, but I’m not exactly sure what to get him.  I have it narrowed down to a few choices, but I’m trying to figure out what he would like the most.  He was in the Air Force, so he may like this, but he also loves pirates, so I may get him a mens pirate shirt.  It’s a lot different than the gifts he would get me as a little boy, but we’ve always enjoyed exchanging gifts.  I can’t wait to see him!

Movies led to shopping

June 27, 2007

I just went and saw Meet the Robinsons at the cheapies and really liked it. The story was very well written, and it was nice to not have something jammed down your throat, like when I went and saw Happy Feet. Anyway, the Disney flick got me thinking of some other movies they have done that I really liked such as Cars, Aladdin, Robin Hood, Pirates of the Caribbean and Toy Story. Since I was thinking about these movies, I got the itch to buy some merchandise online. I ended up finding this Disney Cars Diecast set that I really liked.

I probably shouldn’t have started shopping because then I couldn’t stop. I found some really cute items on this site. Then, thinking about the other Disney movies, I ended up buying one of these pirate flags. Looks like I’m going to have to keep going to the cheapy theater because I buy so much stuff online. I’ll be waiting for you Ratatouille.

Lots of Exercise at camp

June 19, 2007

So, I was out of town this last week at a Young Life camp, and I got tons of exercise.  It seemed like all we did was run, run, run.  It appears now that my body is definitely paying the price.  I ache all over!  One thing in particular that is hurting is this heel pain in my right foot.  We were playing ultimate frisbee on a big open grass field, and I decided to play barefoot.  Looking back, it probably was not a smart decision.  I went online to look at some home treatment for it.

Another thing during the week we did that was a lot of running around was this volleyball tournament they do every year.  It’s always fun because each cabin gets to dress up in costumes.  Our two guys cabins were pirates and lost boys.  We had the full ensemble for Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Captain Hook, pirates and lost boys.  We had lots of pixie dust and swords and eyepatches.   We also brought some sweet pirate jewelry to for the finishing touches.  All in all, it was a great week, but my body is glad to be home…getting some well deserved rest!

Handicapped friendly bathroom

June 8, 2007

My grandmother recently had a hip replacement, and so we’ve been taking measures to make her home a bit easier on her.  One of the main things we attacked was her bathroom.  We were concerned about her getting in and out of the shower with slipping and falling.  So, we ended installing a handicap accessible bathtub for her by using a this company that was very helpful.  The cost of installing it was very negligible as opposed to remodeling the entire bathroom, and grandma says that it has been very useful for her.  Now she can get on with her recovery and doing the things she likes best, like reading to her grandchildren!
